New Zealand Football’s “Whole of Football” plan

As outlined on the New Zealand Football website the Whole of Football Plan (WOFP) aligns all development programmes to provide a unified pathway into the game and deliver a consistent experience to all participants. It's not just about players - it also involves the ongoing development of coaches, referees and administrators.

The WOFP is designed for the following benefits:

  • Growing the Sport;
  • Transferring Best Practice; and
  • A Consistent Experience

Volunteers always appreciated

Ruahine AFC relies on the support of volunteers from our footballing families to keep the club running as successfully as it does.

If you can help out at club sausage sizzles, events and tournaments it would be appreciated. You can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  and we'll contact you as/when help is needed.

Coaches and Managers

Coaches and Managers are volunteers from within our club's footballing families. You do not need previous experience in coaching as the Whole of Football Plan provides training skills and coaching methods. Also Central Football and Ruahine AFC provide training and mentoring of coaches.

2014 Committee

Ruahine AFC relies on the support of volunteers from our footballing families to keep the club running as successfully as it does.

Committee members attend club meetings, may hold an administrative position on the committee, and help out at club sausage sizzles, events and tournaments. If you'd like to volunteer we would really appreciate it. You can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

13th Grade

13th grade is classified as 'youth football' by New Zealand Football. Teams play 11-a-side games under standard football rules. In order to let all Ruahine players have the opportunity to play 11-a-side football before they leave the Club, players in year 8 at school will have the option to play in the 13th grade even if they are 12th grade by age (i.e. turn 12 in 2014). For more information click here

Mini Football

Manawatu is rolling out Mini Football for Grades 9-12 for the first time this year. For more information click here

Fun Football

7th and 8th grade players will participate in NZ Football's Fun Football programme. For more information click here.

First Kicks (5th and 6th grades)

5th and 6th Grade players (i.e. those turning 6 or less this year) will not be placed in teams, but will participate in skill development through the NZ Football's First Kicks programme. For more information click here.

Fees

Fees for the 2014 season will be $75 per child, and $45 per subsequent child from the same family.  These must be paid before the season begins on 10 May.

What grade will your child play in?

Your child’s playing grade is determined by the age that s/he will turn in the 2014 calendar year (i.e.1 January 2014 – 31 December 2014).  For example, if they will turn 8 this year they will play in Grade 8.  Exceptions arise occasionally for particularly talented players (who can play in a higher grade) and at 13th grade (see below).

The 2014 season begins Saturday 10 May and continues through to early September (the exact date yet to be confirmed by Central Football).
