2020 Football Season Contact Tracing

Contact Tracing is an important tool we all need to use to combat COVID-19. You will have no doubt all had experience in your day to day lives with the various apps and processes that business and the general community are using to trace customers etc. iDMe is the application that NZF and the Federations, including Central Football are recommending.

Please note the following key points supplied to Ruahine AFC about iDMe:

  • Part of our agreement for the use of grounds with local Councils is that there is an expectation on clubs that the iDMe venue code is clear and available for people to load. This might be in the form of some laminated signs around the ground or a central point if your venue has one entry/access point. It may prove convenient to communicate your ground, training and clubroom venue codes directly to members so they can set iDMe up beforehand.
  • We do not expect clubs or club volunteers to police members or spectators use of iDMe. There is a clear message around everyone taking personal responsibility and that whilst we should expect that everyone use the form of contact tracing available at any venue, including iDMe at football grounds, there is no requirement on anyone checking this is done or any action to be taken if someone refuses to comply.
  • The use of contact tracing is to help manage any community transmission of COVID-19. There is a personal responsibility on everyone to comply with this to protect both themselves and anyone else.
  • Access to iDMe data is managed centrally and only able to be accessed by Central Football staff. There is absolutely no intent or legal ability for this information to be shared or used in any capacity other than for use in the case of COVID-19 contact tracing requirements.
  • Spectators must use iDMe for contact tracing using the venue code.
  • It is recommended that players, staff and match officials use iDMe for contact tracing.

Steps for getting sorted:

iDMe lets you use your phone to create your own personal QR Code with your contact details. Your details just stay on your phone and you can share them with any iDMe scanner or by entering a 5 character iDMe venue code. Your contact details may then be used by the Ministry of Health and/or the District Health Board to alert you if you might have come into contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.

  1. You don’t need to download an App. Simply use your phone to visit www.idme.co.nz and save the webpage to your smartphones home screen.
  2. Complete your contact details and tap SHOW QR CODE. You only need to do this once. Save it to your home screen for quick access and so that it works offline. Push the click here for manual sign-in and enter your venue code, then tap the Check-in button.
  3. To create and store contact details for multiple people on a single phone, tap the Add another person link from anyone’s Details screen. You can then scroll through each record to instantly scan in their QR Code or manually check them in using a 5 character venue code.
